The Whitsunday Variety Bash - Crossley Holden a major sponsor.

Facing 10 days on rugged Queensland outback roads, the Whitsunday Variety Bash team knew they needed a vehicle which would be comfortable, durable and above all reliable.
Their trip would involve over a week traversing coastal and outback Queensland raising money for sick, disadvantaged and special children for the Variety Club of Queensland on the major annual fundraiser.

The official bash car had been selected as a 1971 HG Holden - with a strong history, mechanical reliability and previous experience in a variety bash, the car also fitted the essential criteria of being over 30-years-old. But when it came to the support vehicle that would carry all the creature comforts and extra necessities required for the trip, Whitsunday team manager Charlie Large felt he couldn't go past the Holden brand.

"We were after comfort, extra seating, off-road capability and reliability," he explained.
"We wanted something durable, with dealership back-up."
What he found was a nice complement to the 36-year-old Holden HG.
At his local dealership, Crossley Holden in Proserpine, Charlie purchased a 2007 diesel Captiva.
"With the type of trip we're going to take there will be significant dirt roads and the Capitivas really lend themselves to rugged terrain," he said.
"It's also spacious, easy to manoeuvre, and I valued the support offered by Crossley's."

The support vehicle, now known as Whitsunday Adventurer after being named by the children of the Whitsundays, will head off on the XXXX Gold "Beef 'n' Beaches" Variety Bash on August 16, making its way from the Sunshine Coast to the Whitsundays via Dalby, Taroom, Emerald, Yeppoon, Mt Coolon, Ravenswood and Bowen, stopping along the way to raise further awareness of the Variety cause.

For Charlie and his crew it's been a dream a long time coming. “I always had an idea that I wanted to take part," he said. And he is doing so with the support of the community, with Crossley Holden among the local businesses offering significant sponsorship for the bash.

Together businesses and the community have raised over $74,000 to sponsor the two Holdens on their pilgrimage across Queensland and to the Whitsundays in the name of a great cause.
